A Gathering for Pakistan: PTI Protest on the Dam
AMSTERDAM, November 23rd – This Sunday, the heart of Amsterdam, De Dam, will echo with the voices of hundreds of peaceful demonstrators. The Dutch chapter of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is holding a rally to send a powerful message.
Driven by a deep sense of injustice, the protesters stand united for several core demands:
· To Remember the Fallen: They will honour the memory of PTI workers and civilians who have lost their lives in the ongoing political turmoil in Pakistan.
· To Demand Freedom: A central cry will be for the immediate and unconditional release of their leader, the former Prime Minister Imran Khan, whom they believe is a victim of a political witch-hunt.
· To Expose Corruption: The protest aims to shed light on what they describe as rampant, state-sanctioned corruption that is crippling the nation’s future.
· To Reclaim a Mandate: They decry the “stolen public mandate,” referring to the controversial general elections of February 2024, which they believe were heavily rigged to sideline PTI from power.
The gathering is planned as a peaceful, solemn event. Through speeches and chants, the diaspora community hopes to amplify their voice from the canals of Amsterdam to the streets of Pakistan, calling for justice, democracy, and the rule of law. For them, the Dam becomes a global stage for a national struggle.
